Machine Head - Supported by God Forbid and Caliban
It would be the fourth time for me but if there is one band who is never boring to watch it is Machine Head. And this time they would play with Caliban and God Forbid. This three bands were an amazing line up for a night filled up with Metal. When we arrived at 15.00 o’clock people were already waiting. We were interviewing Machine Head and Caliban so we went into the 013. Afterwards weate somethingand then it was time to go to the show.
Caliban is a Metalcore band which has his roots in Germany. The last couple of years and especially this year they went sky high. I saw them earlier this year supporting In Flames. And after seeing this show I have to admit that they were better back then. The show wasn’t attractive to watch and I think the venue is too big for this band. Besides that the lights weren’t good and the band was trying too hard. The sound was not overwhelming like before, it just wasn’t what I expected. I hope that this band will perform better next time because it wasn’t that good this time. I heard that the Melkweg show 4 days before was awesome, let us just call it a bad night. Caliban will be playing in the Goudvishal early next year, a venue that's more suiting for the band.
This band I also saw earlier this year and back then they didn’t play to well. I like their CD and this show was amazing to see. The sound was much better, the lights weren’t that good. But the total image of the band was just great. They presented themselves, entertained the audience and knew what to do to make the audience move. The music isn’t that original but the show is great to watch. They just need their own lightdude to complete their show, the audience want to see the band and it wasn’t easy to see them this night.
As usual, Machine Head delivered. I’ve seen this band numerous times now, and everytime it's just a damn good show! It's almost like one of those crazy party bands who seem to get the crowd going no matter where they are. The only negative thing I can really say is that I’d rather heared a song like Blood for Blood instead of The Burning Red..but hey, that's just me. The band seemed to enjoy themselves on stage, and Rob Flynn always gets some good crowd interaction going as well! He even got a little poster with “Proost” on it at the end. I would like to mention the cover of Metallica’s Creeping Death, and the effect of that song on the younger audience…meaning that I saw alot of kids with a face that said “what the hell is this”..good stuff! But for the rest, all the ‘usual’ tracks came by so I can say that Machine Head played a good show. As usual!
